The field of transport space design focuses primarily on improving road safety from the perspective of transport infrastructure layout.
We participate in the creation of technical regulations and proposals for legislative changes, taking into account the conclusions of research projects and commercial contracts. Transport research and development monitors current trends in road transport in the Czech Republic and worldwide, whether it concerns the principles of traffic calming, increasing the safety of individual transport participants, or changes in transport organization according to current requirements (creation of parking spaces, lanes, or paths for cyclists, etc.) or solutions such as traffic signage. In this context, we carry out safety audits and safety inspections of roads and other tools such as initial assessments or detailed inspections of roads, as well as assessments of parking or solutions for proper traffic signage at various levels of territorial units.
We have been monitoring the development of indirect safety indicators for a long time, which are the basis for the BESIP Strategy in particular, and are often also the basis for the creation of regional and local strategies.
At the same time, we have implemented or significantly participated in a number of research projects, both national and international. The topics include increasing road safety, indirect indicators, vulnerable participants (pedestrians, cyclists), etc.
We apply our knowledge in the creation of legislative documents and technical conditions. Recently, we have prepared TP 132 Principles of Traffic Calming on Public Roads in Municipalities – prepared by CDV + EDIP, s. r. o. (01/2025), and we are currently preparing TP 269 – Backbone routes for oversized and overweight transport and TP 65 – Principles for traffic signage on public roads. We are also involved in other TP documents through our participation in technical and editorial councils.
We also provide training, primarily for future and current road safety auditors and officials (and other interested parties), and we are able to provide customized training according to the client's requirements.
