Development of Public Charging Infrastructure in the Context of Providing Transport Services and Considering Traffic Engineering Parameters

Project presentation

The project focused on developing a model for the optimal deployment of public electric vehicle charging stations across the Czech Republic. The model takes into account traffic volumes, the expected growth of battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, settlement size, and other transport engineering and spatial parameters. Its objective was to support the efficient planning of charging infrastructure in line with user needs and the development of electromobility.

The project developed optimisation models for planning the deployment of charging stations, which were continuously consulted with the ministries responsible for implementing the National Action Plan for Clean Mobility. To ensure practical use of the results, the final model was implemented as a web application supporting decision-making and planning of public charging infrastructure.

The project was carried out by the Transport Research Centre.
