The project is implemented under the Interreg Slovakia–Czechia 2021–2027 programme and is co-financed by the European Union. The contribution from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) amounts to EUR 225,764.07.
The Efficient Cooperation in Valašsko and Kysuce in the Field of Transport Safety (EfektBESIP) project is implemented under the Interreg Slovakia–Czechia 2021–2027 programme. It focuses on strengthening cross-border cooperation between Czechia and Slovakia in addressing common challenges in road and railway safety. The project connects the expertise of a research institution with the needs of the partner cities of Valašské Meziříčí and Čadca, with the aim of transferring the latest knowledge into public administration practice and contributing to improved transport safety in border regions.
The main objective of the project is to improve transport safety in the Czech-Slovak border region through the joint identification and resolution of road safety issues, the exchange of experience between project partners, and the development of methodological materials that can be used not only by the participating cities but also by other border regions. The project also supports cooperation between public authorities, expert institutions, schools and other stakeholders active in the field of transport safety.
education and awareness-raising in the field of road safety,
conducting traffic surveys to support public administration decision-making,
road safety education for children in kindergartens and primary schools,
development of best practice examples for the operation of BESIP commissions,
analysis of the safety of railway level crossings and trespassing issues,

The project will deliver:

best practice recommendations for the operation of BESIP commissions,

traffic surveys and proposals for safety measures,
enhanced professional knowledge among public administration staff through educational activities,
strengthened cross-border cooperation and sharing of best practices between Czech and Slovak partners.
