The project focuses on the use of high-definition (HD) maps to support the safe operation of automated and autonomous vehicles. Its objective is to define requirements for map data from the perspective of autonomous mobility and to develop a methodology for creating, maintaining, and using highly accurate digital maps.
The project identified key parameters that should be included in HD maps, methods for acquiring these data, and suitable storage formats. The research also addressed vehicle localisation in situations where Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals are unavailable or insufficiently accurate.
To overcome these limitations, the project proposed a system combining precise map information with navigation technologies to improve localisation reliability. The solution also verified the concept of positioning integrity, assessing the ability of the system to guarantee position accuracy, availability, and continuity.
The project outcomes contribute to the advancement of autonomous mobility and provide expert foundations for the future deployment of automated vehicles in road transport.
