The project focused on developing a polymer coating for application to road equipment in critical locations, such as crash barriers and vertical traffic signs, as well as on developing a suitable application method. One of the main objectives was to improve the visibility of road equipment and its perception by drivers, particularly in locations with reduced visibility or complex road layouts.
The research included monitoring the optical properties of the applied coating, especially its retroreflection and luminance. From the human factors perspective, the project also investigated the influence of the coating on driver attention under different conditions, such as fatigue, and its potential to improve visual perception. Another objective was to extend the service life of road equipment.
The project was coordinated by the Transport Research Centre. The project partner was LIKAL Ltd.
