Post-Accident Care DIALOG: A Community Teaching the System to Care

Project presentation

We have launched a project whose main goal is to transition the proven DIALOG method from the pilot phase into routine practice within the post-accident care system in two regions and to create a sustainable model for its operation and expansion to other regions.

The DIALOG method connects post-accident care professionals with individuals who have firsthand experience with a traffic accident, bringing greater empathy and psychosocial support to the system.

Project Objectives

The project pursues six interrelated objectives:

  • Standardization of the method: Updating the methodology for long-term implementation in practice based on proven scenarios.

  • Strengthening professionals’ competencies: Conducting at least 20 workshops for a minimum of 100 staff members on empathy and reflective communication.

  • Stabilizing the community: Creating a functional and independent community of affected individuals in both regions.

  • Embedding in institutions: Involving emergency response units (Czech Police, Fire and Rescue Service, Emergency Medical Service), crisis centers, and other organizations in practical implementation.

  • Comprehensive evaluation: Assessing the impact on professionals’ practice and the post-traumatic growth of community members.

  • Sustainable model: Securing long-term funding through paid workshops.

Main Expected Results

Key outputs to be achieved within the project include:

  • Meeting the target number of supported individuals.

  • An updated DIALOG methodology based on evaluation results.

  • Conducting at least 20 DIALOG workshops.

  • A stable and self-sustaining community of affected individuals, capable of conducting further workshops even after the project ends.

  • Integrating the workshops into standard professional training.

  • A comprehensive evaluation demonstrating and defining the benefits of the DIALOG system.
