The project focuses on teleoperation of vehicles and aims to improve the safety, reliability, and user comfort of operators controlling vehicles remotely. It addresses the growing importance of teleoperation within autonomous mobility and intelligent transport systems.
The main objective was to identify critical, challenging, and potentially dangerous situations faced by remote vehicle operators. Based on empirical research into the cognitive effects of teleoperation, the project developed recommendations for optimising remote driving workstations to improve safety and operational efficiency.
Another important aspect of the project was the development of tools for improving the quality and availability of data communication between the vehicle and the operator. Reliable connectivity is a key prerequisite for safe remote driving, particularly in demanding operational or emergency situations.
The project resulted in the design of a safe and reliable teleoperation system suitable for both passenger and heavy-duty vehicles operating under standard as well as difficult conditions. The outcomes contribute to the advancement of autonomous mobility and provide a basis for the future deployment of remotely operated vehicles in transport.
