Pavel Řezáč from the Transport Research Centre appeared on CNN Prima NEWS, discussing the growing issue of aggressive driving and how to respond to it.
Pavel Řezáč, Head of Division at the Transport Research Centre, appeared on 27 March 2026 in the Nový den programme on CNN Prima NEWS, where he discussed the growing issue of aggressive driving on Czech roads and motorways.
In the interview, he highlighted that the number of accidents related to aggressive behaviour has been increasing year-on-year, mainly due to higher traffic density, time pressure, and driver stress. The most critical situations tend to occur during peak traffic hours, particularly on Friday afternoons.
According to Pavel Řezáč, the human factor and personality play a crucial role: “On the road, we behave the same way as we do in everyday life. Our reactions, emotions, and ability to handle stress are reflected in our driving. When we are under pressure or in a hurry, the likelihood of aggressive behaviour increases.”
The interview also included recommendations on how to respond to aggressive drivers. The key is to stay calm and avoid escalating the situation.
If we want to reach our destination safely, it is always better to let an aggressive driver pass rather than engage in conflict. The goal is not to win on the road, but to get home safely.

The discussion also touched on possible systemic measures, including upcoming legislative changes and the role of therapeutic programmes for high-risk drivers, which help reduce repeated dangerous behaviour.
