How should drivers prepare for a long journey, when is it time to take a break, and why is fatigue behind the wheel so dangerous? Pavel Řezáč discussed safe holiday travel on Czech Television's Dobré ráno.
As the holiday season begins, many drivers set off on long journeys. Fatigue, stress and the desire to "just make it to the destination" are among the factors that can significantly increase the risk of a road crash.
Pavel Řezáč, Director of the Division of Transport Technologies and Human Factors at the Transport Research Centre, appeared on Czech Television's Dobré ráno, where he shared practical advice on preparing for long-distance travel, recognising fatigue behind the wheel and planning regular breaks.
The interview also highlighted why inexperienced drivers should avoid taking sole responsibility for demanding holiday trips, the importance of a calm atmosphere inside the vehicle, and why the final kilometres before reaching the destination are often the most critical.
