Veronika Vošická Buráňová from CDV spoke on Czech Radio Vysočina about road safety risks and the importance of post-accident care for people affected by road crashes.
A single moment of inattention can turn an ordinary journey into an event with long-term consequences. This was highlighted by Veronika Vošická Buráňová from the Transport Research Centre (CDV) in the Dobré dopoledne programme on Czech Radio Vysočina.
The interview focused not only on current road safety risks, but also on what happens after a road crash – a topic that is often overlooked.
With the arrival of spring and summer, road traffic becomes more diverse and less predictable. Cyclists, motorcyclists and children return to the roads, increasing the overall risk. As discussed in the interview, driver inattention remains one of the main causes of crashes. Driving requires full concentration, leaving little room for distractions such as phone use or fatigue.
A significant part of the discussion focused on post-accident care. A road crash does not end with the departure of emergency services – it is often followed by long-term psychological, legal and social impacts. The Post-Accident Care project, in which CDV is involved, helps people navigate this difficult period by providing information, support and access to professional assistance.
The interview also highlighted that support is needed not only for victims, but also for their families – and often for those who caused the crash.
