At the ICBMPT 2025 conference in Brno, the Transport Research Centre will present innovations in the field of sustainable building materials, including the development of more environmentally friendly cement and the use of slag in road construction. For more information, visit icbmpt.com.
The Transport Research Centre will participate as a co-organizer and partner in the 28th annual international conference Building Materials, Products and Technologies (ICBMPT 2025), which will take place on June 4–5, 2025, in Brno. At the conference, it will present the results of two major research projects carried out in collaboration with the Research Institute of Building Materials (VÚSH).
The first project focuses on developing cement from high-belite clinker for use in transportation infrastructure. The goal is to reduce CO₂ emissions during clinker production while ensuring the sustainability of transportation infrastructure. “The project, on which we are also collaborating with CEMEX Czech Republic and Skanska, will bring innovations in binder production technology and optimize processes in the construction of cement-concrete pavement surfaces,” says Jiří Grošek, a researcher at CDV.
The second project presented explores the possibilities of using slag from municipal waste incineration in the construction of structural layers for roadways. In collaboration with SAKO Brno, CDV and VÚSH are developing procedures that will help reduce the need for primary raw materials and increase the sustainability of Class II and III road construction.
Both of the aforementioned projects are being implemented with the support of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic under the Environment for Life and TRANSPORT 2030 programs.
The ICBMPT 2025 Conference will welcome leading experts from academia, industry, and government who specialize in the field of building materials. Keynote speakers will include Ing. Lukáš Vlček (Minister of Industry and Trade), Ing. Jan Kříž (Director General of the Environmental Economics Section, Ministry of the Environment), and Prof. RNDr. Pavla Rovnaníková, CSc. (Professor Emerita, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Brno University of Technology).
Organized by the Research Institute of Building Materials, this international conference will provide a platform for sharing the latest findings in the field of building materials and technologies.
