CDV contributes to the SRNA Index for Generali Czech Insurance Company. The latest edition combines police statistics and emergency line data to provide the most comprehensive overview of wildlife-vehicle collisions in the Czech Republic.
Centrum dopravního výzkumu has long been involved in the development and expert evaluation of the SRNA Index, created in cooperation with Generali Česká pojišťovna to monitor wildlife-vehicle collisions on Czech roads.
The 14th edition of the SRNA Index introduces a significant methodological update. In addition to official police road accident statistics, it now also incorporates records from the national emergency line 158. Thanks to this expanded data set, the index provides the most comprehensive insight so far into the scale and characteristics of wildlife collisions in the Czech Republic.
Between October 2025 and March 2026, more than 18,000 wildlife collisions were recorded. The data also confirm that over 30,000 such accidents occur annually on Czech roads.
In summary, this represents by far the most comprehensive dataset on wildlife collisions currently available in the Czech Republic. By combining police accident statistics with emergency line records, we are now able to describe the real situation on Czech roads much more accurately. The SRNA Index not only helps identify the most dangerous locations and time periods, but also supports the planning of preventive measures and improvements in road safety.

In addition to collision frequency, the SRNA Index also analyses temporal patterns, high-risk regions and the most frequently affected animal species. This year’s edition also includes a preventive pilot project involving scent fences, designed to test their effectiveness in reducing wildlife collisions on selected road sections.
Detailed results and methodology were published by Generali Česká pojišťovna in their press release generaliceska.cz.
