The Horizon Europe framework program has introduced a new eligibility criterion for applicant institutions, namely the obligation to have a Gender Equality Plan (GEP) in place from 2022. This is a strategic document or program that aims to analyze equal opportunities for men and women in research and implement measures that would help improve this situation.
The Transport Research Center, v. v. i. has long supported gender equality in research and in the institution's working environment. Prior to the creation of the "Gender Equality Plan of the Transport Research Centre, v. v. i. for 2022-2025," a number of measures were adopted and implemented to help achieve this equality. The CDV also received the prestigious HR award for excellence in human resources management in a scientific environment.
The Gender Equality Plan of the Transport Research Centre, v. v. i. for 2022-2025 thus sets goals to further develop this supportive working and social environment. It follows the recommendations of the European Commission and focuses on the following five areas:
Work-life balance and organizational culture;
Gender balance in management and decision-making;
Gender equality in recruitment and career advancement;
Integration of the gender dimension into science and research content;
Measures against gender-based violence, including sexual harassment.
The individual goals and measures leading to their fulfillment are then defined in the GEP Action Plan, which is part of this document.
In the first quarter of 2024, an interim Monitoring Report on the Gender Equality Plan of the Transport Research Centre, v. v. i. for 2023 was prepared, which also included gender-segregated statistics for 2023 and an updated GEP Action Plan as annexes.
