Our department studies the impact of transport on all components of the environment.
We conduct research projects that focus on air quality, solid, liquid, and gaseous matrices, and biota, examining the concentrations of various pollutants in these matrices and their subsequent impact on the surrounding environment and, where applicable, human health.
We also focus on building materials. We collect information about their composition and the harmful substances they contain. We monitor their release into the natural environment. The matrices studied are aerosol particles in the air, soil, sediments, building materials (asphalt, concrete), water, aqueous extracts, and biota (needles, mosses, lichens, leaves, grass, etc.). Based on our findings, we propose measures to improve the state of the environment.
Since 2024, we have been working on the quality of hydrogen as a fuel for automotive fuel cells. We are introducing and gradually accrediting methods for determining impurities in hydrogen fuel.
We are creating methodological procedures, documentation for legislation, and technical regulations. We conduct our research in cooperation with a specialized laboratory at the Transport Research Center, which is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation that allows us to address issues at a high level of quality. We also collaborate with universities.
