Over the past four years, there have been more than 114,000 accidents on regional roads. The new BESIP Best Practice Guide for Developing Regional Strategies provides guidance on systematically improving safety, including best practices from various regions.
Abstract
Over the past four years, there have been 114,520 reported accidents on roads managed by regional authorities, resulting in 763 fatalities, 2,545 serious injuries, and 37,277 minor injuries. The situation remains unfavorable even from a long-term perspective. An important tool used to address this situation is the Regional Road Safety Strategy (BESIP), which serves as a systematic tool for comprehensively addressing accident rates across the entire region, including traffic education. To promote wider use of this tool, a Best Practice Guide for developing regional BESIP strategies was created in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport. This article presents the guide and the process of creating regional BESIP strategies, highlighting their significance and importance, with an emphasis on sharing best practices from other regions in strategy development.
