Concrete bridge over the river

Transport infrastructure

Our research activities focus on material development and the introduction of new technologies for the construction, maintenance, and repair of roads and other transport infrastructure facilities. We are engaged in the development of new non-destructive diagnostic methods using artificial intelligence (AI), the calculation of CO2 carbon footprints, and the assessment of the life cycle of buildings.LCA.

Our key scientific areas focusing on developments in transport infrastructure are materials (especially for concrete structures and buildings), non-destructive diagnostic methods (road surface properties and the use of AI), and geotechnics (subbase layers and subsoil for transport structures).

We process data for transport structure administrators (especially roads), and we are involved in standardizing and updating technical regulations. We put new knowledge gained from research into practice.

We are currently working on material development related to the introduction of new hydraulic binders (especially cements and hydraulic road binders), the use of by-products in transport structures and surface protection systems for transport structures and their elements (concrete impregnation, polymer coatings for steel elements, etc.), the measurement and evaluation of road surface properties, the visualization and evaluation of the condition of transport infrastructure using artificial intelligence, and the development of methods for calculating the carbon footprint (CO2) and life cycle assessment (LCA) of buildings.

Transport Infrastructure Laboratory

We conduct research in cooperation with the specialized Transport Research Center Laboratory, which is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation enabling high-quality problem solving.
